Number Two: End Youth Violence

Without question the number one issue for Roy centers on children. We have an alarming rate of violent crimesagainst children, all too often by other children. Roy wants to work towards some sensible solutions to the despair that is keeping our kids from achieving in school and in life.

Roy wants to:

Seek information through a series of meetings with stake holders: Parents, Teachers, Community Leaders, Clergy and others.

Develop a Youth Conference where kids can voice their concerns directly to State Legislators.

Investigate ways to lawfully remove weapons from the street and out of the hands of unsupervised young people.

Work with his fellow Legislators to ensure that the next budget round includes more funding for local police agencies to increase Community Policing and anti- gang efforts.

Work with Legislators to review laws that affect neglectful families and how we can save kids from horrible, abusive home lives.
