Number Three: Education for All

If we are going to end the disparity between our urban kids and their counterparts in more affluent parts of theGrand Rapids area we have to dig deeper into the causes and make sure that our schools are getting the support they need to succeed.
Roy wants to:
Work with GRPS to develop an agenda for future legislation that will help our schools gain a stronger footing on achievement for EVERY STUDENT.
Work with area Legislators to build a network of urban areas in West Michigan to exchange and share information to make sure that the mobility of students doesn’t hold them back and that resources are focused on the strongest areas of need.
Work with collegues to find ways to properly fund college education. Too many students are forced to take out huge loans with no promise of employment in Michigan. This is an enormous burden on families and needs to be corrected.
